Energy Information

Fundamental to energy literate advocacy is the understanding that an appropriate mix of solutions is needed to resolve our national energy crisis, all of which must be applied together in order to arrive at a comprehensive national energy policy. There is no one silver bullet solution. From power generation to transportation fuels, any national energy policy must meet three key criteria:

  1. Increased efficiency and conservation: Consumer incentives are needed to promote power and fuel conservation, as well as the application of technology to more efficiently use the amounts we do consume.
  2. Clean use of conventional energy sources: A significant level of continued dependency on fossil fuels is inevitable in the near term, while alternatives are brought to market and behaviors adjusted. But we must demand, and the federal government must mandate, that these traditional sources be used in a clean manner.
  3. Emphasis placed on fossil fuel alternatives: With proper investment in research and development, solar, wind, and biofuel technologies all present solutions that are sustainable and can be produced domestically, thus re-energizing state-level, regional and national economies.
